How to Give Your Bathroom Shower The Eco Chic Treatment

Contrary to what others may tell you, there is no such thing as doing too much for your environment. There are always more ways to recycle and conserve. From the food you eat to the clothes that you wear, you can make a considerable difference on the world that we all use and share. In the bathroom space, there are a wide range of measures you can take to participate in low-impact living.

Without a doubt, your bathroom shower is probably a place where you like to relax and release all of the day's hardships. When you are standing there, with the hot water rushing down your back, you could think of nowhere better than to be right there, in a comfortable glass shower enclosure. Using a shower rather than a bath tub already saves you quite a bit of water. Even though you can soak in the tub, you can still have a similar sumptuous experience in the bathroom shower. With a huge market for bath products, you can find aromatherapeutic scents that are created specifically for the shower.

With this said, you can still improve on "greening" your overall shower experience. Firstly, try to save water where you can. It is tempting to stay in your shower for an hour but think of all the water that goes wasted. The average 15-minute shower uses 57 gallons of water! If you take what they call a "navy shower", where you turn off the water when you lather up and apply shampoo, you end up expending only 4 gallons. If this option seems too unreasonable, you can invest in a low-flow showerhead. These devices save water without sacrificing any pressure. These will be great in any acrylic shower stalls or shower enclosure!  Another way to make your bathroom shower an eco-friendly space is by buying bio-degradable soaps, shampoos and conditiioners. A lot of beauty products contain petroleum or other unrenewable substances. They end up just washing down the drain and into the oceans. There are a great variety of vegetable-based, biodegradable products with great scents that you can choose from.

Finally, an important step you can take towards making your bathroom showers an instrument of sustainability is by making it safe for the atmosphere. After you finish your shower, spray it with a natural mold-fighting solution. Not only does this prevent undesirable mold but it is also a healthy alternative to the toxic chemicals that you may have used. Ultimately, it is up to you to do what you can for the environment. If not for yourself, then think of everyone else that is living on this planet with you.
