Your shower should be a place of tranquility--an oasis of comfort you turn to when no one else is willing to listen. It is always there for you with its doors opened wide but lately, you are beginning to notice that it has let itself go a bit. Yes, your shower is going through a mid-life crisis. The worst part about it is that you are probably the one who allowed it to happen.
It's ok; you can do something about it. You know it's time to clean your shower stall--glass doors and all--when you can barely see out of what was once clear glass sliding doors. The following are some pointers on how to maintain the cleanliness of this relaxing space. The first thing you should take on is emptying the shower of all its hygienic products: the shampoo and conditioner bottles, the body wash, razor, etc. If you are keeping half-used bottles of shaving cream and shampoo, throw them out. They're just taking up valuable room.
Otherwise, all of the rest of these things should be temporarily removed so that you can get into every nook and cranny that needs to be focused on. Next, you should rinse the walls and floor of your shower with hot water. Use a handheld shower spray if you have it and spray everything down. Afterwards, you should use a cleaning solution that gets rid of mildew and mold. Put on your rubber gloves and really get into it. Once you're done, you should remove the shower head from the shower column and put it in a bowl of straight vinegar and let the shower head soak in it for a few minutes. Scrub the holes with a toothbrush to lift all the clogged gunk out. Rinse it and put it back where it belongs.
Next, you should move on to the glass shower enclosure. Water stains and soap scum are regular offenders to the pristine appearance of the glass. You can rid of them if you use a product made especially for the glass. Usually, the solutions that work best have vinegar as an active ingredient. This not only eradicates the spots and scum but it also creates a nice sheen. Simply take a soft bristled brush and scrub them off until your glass doors are back to new. Now your shower stall and glass shower enclosure are back to how they used to be: brand new. Or at least they appear so! |
