Do you have a small bathroom? Many of us do, and over the years I’ve found some tricks to make my little space seem a little larger. I mean, I can’t make the bathroom any bigger than it actually is unless I want to tear down some walls and take on a major home improvement project, but there are certain things I can do to give the illusion of more space with my bathrooms and showers. Here are my tips for you:
1. Mirrors are your friend. Ok, not so much in the “vain” way, but mirrors are your friend because they make small spaces seem bigger than they are. So don’t be shy about putting a couple good size mirrors in your bathroom to make it seem better. Most of us have a mirror over the sink, but if you put a mirror on the wall behind that, or cattycorner to it, you will create a reflection of a reflection, and your bathroom will seem so much bigger!
2. Get a frameless shower enclosure. You may have the old shower curtain or normal shower door in your bathroom, but get rid of these pronto! Go with something without such definite lines or a curtain that makes the room seem closed off. Nothing makes a space seem bigger than openness, and frameless shower enclosures are a great way to make your bathroom space seem larger. Now, this means you’ll need to keep the inside of your shower looking tidy, because everyone will be able to see in there, but this is a small price to pay for that much extra visual space.
3. Get a linen cabinet. You may think that you don’t need one, but chances are if you had an organization expert come to your home, they would shriek at your bathroom! Many times, what makes a small space seem even smaller is the clutter that fills it. If you keep all your toiletries, makeup, and bathroom necessities tucked away and organized, it will not only make your life easier and save you time, but your bathroom will look bigger. Remember, open spaces look bigger, so if your bathroom is tidy and free of clutter, that alone will make it look larger.
If you follow these tips and get extra mirrors, frameless shower stalls, and a linen cabinet to keep your bathroom extra tidy and clean, your small bathroom will seem much larger and you will enjoy spending time in there that much more. |
