Bathtubs Versus Bathroom Showers

It is an age-old discussion: which is better the bathtub or the shower? There are certainly many pros and cons of each and each person has their own preference. I have found that I cannot live with only one. Each works best for different purposes so ideally you have both!  Here are some of my reasons for loving each one.

One of the most common arguments in favor of bathroom showers is that they use less water than baths do. The experts, of course, will tell you that it is relative; it depends on the size of your bathtub and how long your showers are. If you are showering for thirty minutes, you have most likely used up many more gallons of water than you probably would if you had taken a bath. Nevertheless, a shower is convenient! You do not need to wait several minutes for the tub to fill up, which is great when you are running late for work in the morning. Efficiency is key! Just hop in, rinse off, and you are all set. Showers also get you cleaner. All your dirt is washed down the drain instantly instead of sitting with you in the bath for twenty minutes.  Plus, nothing beats singing in the shower. You simply do not sound as melodious in the tub.

While fiberglass shower stalls are easy to clean and great for convenience, baths are wonderful if you actually have more time. Nothing is more relaxing that a warm bubble bath!  Taking a long bath lowers your stress level because it completely relaxes your muscles, easing all your aches and pains. If you have a cold, the steam and aromatherapy can help clear up your congested lungs.  Hot baths also warm you up which is wonderful during the winter months. Wrap yourself up in a fluffy robe and drink some hot coco afterwards, it makes you feel toasty in no time!

As you can see by this quick overview, there are many advantages to taking showers as well as to taking baths. Each, however, are great for specific purposes. If you need to get out the door in a hurry, a shower is the way to go. Plus, belting out your favorite songs can put a smile on your face making you more mentally prepared for your day. A bath, however, is great if you have the time to relax and need to warm up on a chilly day. Therefore, it is great to invest in both if you can!
